Meet the instructors of Global Drug Concepts

Shawn Bain Bio:

Shawn, a graduate of the FBI National Academy, retired after serving over 29 years with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office in Columbus, Ohio an agency responsible for serving a population of over one million citizens. He has served in Law Enforcement including the jail division, patrol division, canine unit, SWAT, and Special Investigations conducting vice and narcotics investigations. Shawn has found his passion the last 14 years in drug education.

Michael N. Powell Bio:

Sgt. Michael N. Powell graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He served with honor and distinction with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office for over 32 years, retiring in April 2006. For the last 26 years of Sgt. Powell's law enforcement career, he was assigned to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU), working narcotics, vice, and stolen property investigations. Sgt. Powell is a state-certified instructor of narcotics and is licensed with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. He is widely recognized as an expert on illegal drugs; their manufacture, sale, and impact on our society. He drafted the core curriculum and led the instruction of the Basic Undercover Narcotics courses, conducted across Ohio since 1984. Sgt. Powell is a Certified Prevention Specialist Assistant (CPSA) with the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.
